This is so brilliant and beautiful! 🌷 "Fear is a bad advisor" is one quote that came to mind. If we let ourselves realize that we already are many of the aspects of our Ideal Self's, than we would be proud and courageous to take the first step. Not caring for external validation is the best path. And changing the 'What If?' question to 'So What?'.
You're so right in recognising that it's a shift in the way we see ourselves, working from a perspective of 'so what?' provides freedom for us to live our life in a way that aligns with our boldness rather than our fears. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your kind words, Aeron :)
It's funny - when you spend long enough embarrassing yourself, you begin to enjoy the embarrassment, as its a sign that you're being authentic and walking your own path. Even if not everything you're doing is perfect.
You need to be worried when you're fitting in too well, I think.
Enjoying your own embarrassment and raising yourself above it must be a sign of great character. I think you're right in that facing what makes us uncomfortable develops a greater sense of self. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts, Ben–– and thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it :)
Brilliant, bloodily straightforward and brilliant. I have always asked myself what’s the worst that could happen if I try X? And if I can handle that ( which often in the big scheme of things in life is not that terrible a thing…I do go to the point where I might lose my house. OK, then I’d have to move in something smaller. I might lose this. I might lose that, but I still have my family and I’m not dead , then I pretty much can handle anything) so ask yourself what’s the worst that can happen and if you feel you can overcome the worst…then nothing is holding you back but irrational fear.
Love how you put this. It's true that we are often so worried about losing that we give up that which we can gain in the process of reaching for our dreams. Most fear seems irrational, but we still feel it as if it isn't! It remains a battle. Thank you for taking the time to comment, glad the straightforwardness came through, I made an effort to write more simply. Have a great week, Lauren :)
Dear Ilan, I admire your determination and persistence to keep going every week with another beautiful self reflection! I love them!
Thank you!! Such kind words, I'll keep them coming :)
I love your use of simile with the mountain in this one! Such vivid words xx
Thank youuuu, the notice of simile made me smile 😇

Your writing is always wonderful, sometimes straightforward is the thing other times it’s definitely not. If it feels right then it’s right. 😁
